Different Strokes NGO - Nurturing Children With Special Needs

The future of a nation lies in the hands of its children. If the children are given proper upbringing and an environment where they can blossom into beautiful, talented individuals, they can help build a strong nation. But unfortunately, a lot of young, budding talent goes wasted in our country, either due to lack of resources or due to lack of proper guidance. To help such budding talents, blossom in their full glory, Ravi Somani and his wife have started Different Strokes NGO. The NGO is a noble endeavor to help children with special and economic needs. Who are children with special needs?

Every child is special but children with special needs are little different. Kids with special needs are the children who need extra help because of a medical, emotional, learning or economic problem. These kids have special needs because they might need assistance, medicine, therapy, or extra help in school. Stuff other kids don't typically need or only need once in a while.

What does Different Strokes do?

Proper direction and guidance are important in every person’s life, but special children are different. They require special approach to do well in life. Different strokes NGO, by Ravi Somani, does exactly that-help children with special needs do well in life, by using the following measures:

1.      By helping economically and socially deprived, physically and mentally challenged children, so that they become educated, skilled and aware.

2.      Enabling children with special needs to be self-reliant and enjoy a healthy, dignified and sustainable quality of life.

3.      By working hand in hand with parents and other agencies-governmental and non-governmental to build a better future for special children.

4.      Raising funds through corporate partnerships, direct mailers, donation boxes, events, press & electronic advertisement, appeals and greeting cards.

What society can do to help special children?

It’s the society that plays a major role in an individual’s life. Society can serve as pillar to provide strong support to such children. Following things can be done:

• Helping the children with Disabilities get a chance at life.
• Helping such children to overcome their set back in life.
•  Helping them become a part of the society and not considering them as outsiders.
