How To Help Economically Backward Children And Motivate Them

All parents want to give their children bright future and good education but there are some unfortunate people who cannot give their children good education because of their poor financial condition. The lives of poor students are often very different from those of their more affluent peers. Even simple things like: stationary, proper uniform, good footwear is away from their reach. One of the most unfortunate results of their economic struggles is that they often choose to drop out of school and lead a miserable life in poverty.
Different Strokes, the NGO started by Mr Ravi Somani and his wife is dedicated towards making lives of such children better and giving such children a brighter tomorrow. Children are the future of our country; hence, it’s our responsibility as well to help them to succeed in life. Here are some ways, you can help economically backward children and motivate them.

Boost their self esteem: Work to boost the self-esteem of students who live in poverty by praising their school success instead of what they own.
Donate: According to Mr Ravi Somani, if we have abundance in our lives, then we should definitely give back to the society and help the needy people. So, donate your old computers, magazines, newspapers, and books so that low-income students can see and work with printed materials. School may be the only place where they are exposed to print media. Help them to enhance their learning experiences.
Appreciate participation: Encourage the economically backward children to express their opinion, talk about their feelings, and make choices. This will give them confidence to express themselves better in the society.
Sponsor a child’s education: Sponsor a child's education at an NGO, or send him to school. Make donations for schools that educate economically backward children. If you can’t help financially, share your knowledge with the kids. Teach underprivileged children as a volunteer, intern or look for permanent job opportunity.

Little steps that we take can make a huge difference to a child’s life. So, come forward and help in any way you can. To sponsor a child’s education or volunteer at Mr Ravi Somani’s NGO-Different Strokes, visit- www.different-strokes.org

Stamp Collection - How To Differentiate Real From Fake

Stamp collection is an exciting hobby. Collecting stamps is like collecting memories. Every stamp you own has its unique significance and hence, it is very precious. But, not even the stamps are safe from evil minded people. Like all other valuable items, stamps can also be faked, altered, and forged; that’s why it is important to learn how to identify a fake stamp. It takes years of experience to be able to tell real from fake. Hence, Mr Ravi Somani, the well known philatelist has compiled few valuable tips that stamp collectors can use to spot fake stamps.

Inspect the gum on the back of the stamp.

Forgers will re-gum a stamp to repair damage to the original gum, in order to increase the value of a stamp. Here are some tips to identify a re-gummed stamp:
Þ    A re-gummed stamp will often curl at the corners, whereas original gum stamps will usually stay flat.
Þ    A re-gummed stamp has a textured and dull appearance with a little inconsistencies in the thickness of the gum.

Check the watermark

Hold the stamp up to the light. On a re-gummed stamp, the watermark will be more visible in weaker light and may even be impressed into the gum. Original watermarks are much harder to see, becoming visible only when dipped into special fluid, advises Mr Ravi Somani.

Check the perforations of the stamp
If the perforation feels sharp, the stamp has been re-gummed. Normally, an originally gummed stamp will feel soft to the touch.
Another thing to check is any signs of re-perforations. Re-perforated stamps are some of the most common fakes, and can often be fairly easy to spot, particularly with the aid of a magnifying glass. If a stamp is re-perforated, the holes will be poorly spaced or aligned.

Stamp collection is an adventurous hobby that requires great patience, perseverance and the eye of a perfectionist. Follow the useful tips above, brought to you by the expert stamp collector, Mr Ravi Somani to stay safe and cherish your most prized possession for years to come.

How To Take Care Of Your Precious Stamp Collection

Stamp collection is a very interesting hobby. Avid stamp collectors like Mr. Ravi Somani, take pride in their collection of stamps and consider it one of their most valuable possessions. Stamps are rare and expensive and require special care. There are a number of ways to take care of these valuable collectibles. Read on to find out some expert tips by the eminent philatelist Mr. Ravi Somani.

Handle your stamps with care, use special tongs
Never handle your stamps with hands. There are available special tongs with blunt ends that are used by the stamp collectors. Stamp tongs keep dirt, grease, and perspiration from traveling from the hand to the stamp. Refrain from using sharp or pointed tweezers.

Prevent moisture damage to your stamps
According to avid stamp collector Mr. Ravi Somani, moisture is your stamps’ biggest enemy. But there are some ways to deal with the situation.
·         Keep your collection in a climate controlled room. If you have an air conditioner; that might be just the thing you need to filter out moisture.
·         Another simple way to protect your stamps from moisture is to put them in a Ziploc bag with a quantity of silica gel, contained in its own bag.

Never glue or tape stamps to the albums
Never use glue or tape to secure the stamps on stamp album, advices Mr. Ravi Somani. Many new collectors make the mistake of gluing or taping the stamps to the albums. This will secure the stamp on the album’s page but will destroy it when you try to take them off.

Never use both sides of album page
Avoid using both sides of an album page. Doing this allows the stamps on one side to come in contact with the stamps on the other side of the page. Don’t let that happen since it may decrease the value of the stamp.
Stamps are valuable and full of information; that’s why they deserve the best care. Use these tips by the eminent philatelist Mr. Ravi Somani and make your precious collectibles last for years.
